VOTING RIGHTS

The importance of protecting democracy and preserving the access to the ballot box cannot be understated. The Missouri NAACP was founded upon the notion that voting is a right, not a privilege, and we will continue to advocate for safe, equitable, engaged elections.

IN OPPOSING PROP B IN ST. LOUIS

Flyer with the following text:
What is Proposition B? The Saint Louis County Council called an election on April 8, 2025,to vote on Proposition B. This Charter amendment would allow the County Council to remove a Department Director or Department Head with or without cause, which includes the Police Chief, Parks & Recreation Director, and Public Health Director. The ballot language is “misleading, insufficient, inaccurate, argumentative, prejudicial, and unfair.” according to a ruling from Saint LouisCounty Circuit Court.
A yes vote means:
Directors could be fired during emergencies like snowstorms or public health crises.
The police cheif and all department directors could be removed for political reasons.
Department heads would answer to 8 bosses with conflicting policies, positions and priorities.
A no vote means:
Maintains stable leadership for public safety, health, and other essential services.
Ensures qualified professionals run county departments without political interference.
Preserves voter control by keeping the county executive accountable.

VOTING TOOLKIT

Our friends at the Missouri State ID Access Coalition—through a partnership with the Ashrei Foundation—, have put together a toolkit containing additional information regarding voter registration, polling locations, transportation options, and other resources provided by the League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis and the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition.

This toolkit is intended to provide essential support to Missourians in the days leading up to, and including, the election. This information is especially crucial for those who face the greatest challenges in accessing the ballot box: low-income households, communities of color, and individuals with disabilities.
