Command Sergeant Major-Retired (CSM-RET) Tommie Hollins, Sr. spent over 30 years of honorable service to his country in the U.S. Army. His career began as a Private First Class in March of 1978, and he was promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major on 1 May 1999. CSM-RET Hollins retired on 1 June 2008. During CSM-RET Hollins' career he held every leadership position within the Military Police Regiment.
CSM-RET Hollins served a total of eight years as a Command Sergeant Major, three years as a Battalion Sergeant Major and five years as a Brigade Command Sergeant Major. CSM-RET Hollins' duty assignment included three tours in Germany, two tours in Korea, three assignments in Bosnia, and several assignments within the States including Fort Polk, Fort Bliss, and Fort Leonard Wood.
After retiring from the Military, CSM-RET Hollins worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs home base in Leavenworth, KS as a Program Support Assistant. In this role, Hollins was responsible for a broad range of business services in support of VA Medical Center Operations in VISN 15, 19, and 23. As a Research Manager for the Department of Defense in Kabul, Afghanistan, CSM-RET Hollins served as part of the Commander’s special staff as the Human Terrain Research Manager/Assistant Team Leader (work lead) for the Human Terrain Team, AF13. CSM-RET Hollins also advised the NTM-A/CSTC-A Commander, the socio-cultural expert to tactical commanders, in integrating socio-cultural understanding into the military decision-making process.
Additionally, CSM-RET Hollins advised the commanders on how to reduce the amount of lethal force used with a corresponding reduction in military and civilian casualties. CSM-RET Hollins has worked for several government contracted companies, with positions including Deputy Project Manager, Fire Arms Supervisor, Military Analysis Consultant, Research Manager, Senior Training Specialist, Trainer/Mentor, Senior Analyst (ISD), and Emergency Tactic/Techniques Specialist. These positions have sent CSM-RET Hollins to Africa and Cuba as well as numerous locations within the States.
CSM-RET Hollins is dedicated to local community volunteer work:
CSM-RET Hollins enjoys reading and studying the Holy Word, golfing, and shooting. He has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, and Associate Degree in Physical Fitness.
He is married to his love of forty-eight years, Lois, and they have two adult sons and three grandchildren. He and his wife reside in the local area of Dixon, MO.
